Belong Blue Mountains Incorporated (Belong BM) is seeking expressions of interest from Blue Mountains community members with relevant skills and expertise to join our Board.


About Us

Belong BM is a leading not-for-profit provider of community services, supporting individuals and families across the Blue Mountains and surrounding suburbs. We deliver a broad range of essential services including Allied Health, Aged Care Support, Palliative Support, Domestic Assistance, Home Modifications, NDIS programs, community and family supports, and Out-of-School Hours programs.

At the heart of Belong BM is a commitment to social justice and inclusive support. We work collaboratively with community members, local organisations, and service providers to enhance wellbeing, foster connection, and support people of all ages and abilities to live independently and with dignity.

About the Board

Belong BM has a Board of up to 10 Directors. Directors are independent, non-executive, and voluntary (unremunerated), though reimbursement for reasonable expenses is available. Directors serve a two-year term and are expected to comply with their duties under the Belong BM Constitution, relevant legislation, common law, and Governance Standard 5 of the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission Act 2012 (Cth).


The principal responsibility of the Board is to oversee governance and ensure the organisation’s strategic alignment and compliance. Key responsibilities include:

• Determining, reviewing, and maintaining the mission and values of Belong BM

• Approving strategies, budgets, and expenditure in line with the Delegations Matrix

• Appointing the CEO, monitoring their performance, and overseeing succession planning

• Monitoring financial performance and managing risk

• Ensuring compliance with financial, contractual, and legal obligations

• Supporting fundraising initiatives and stakeholder engagement


The Board meets 11 times per year. Members are also expected to participate in sub-committees as needed and attend strategic planning sessions, the Annual General Meeting, and occasional events.

Priority Areas


To complement the expertise of existing Directors, we are particularly interested in candidates with skills or experience in the following areas:

• Aged Care

• NDIS and Disability

• Finance

• Marketing and Fundraising

• Community Engagement

We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, including first-time Board members. We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disabilities, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
