Domestic Assitance & Transport
Supporting older people so they remain independent in their own homes for as long as possible.

What is the Domestic Assistance Service?
Following a My Age Care referral, we can provide a domestic assistance service tailored to help maintain your independence at home with housework and cleaning support. We are also able to offer an accompanied or unaccompanied shopping service.
Both of these services are provided through the Blue Mountains Community Support Program with trained staff. The service is designed for people who are willing and able to provide direction and self-manage their care. Servcies are offered at a subsidised cost of $16.50 per hour and usually provided in 2 hour blocks.
What is the Transport service?
The Transport services provided by the Blue Mountains Community Support Program are for people who are involved in social support groups, social activities, or other programs run by our Neighbourhood Centres to enable them to access these activities and maintain a connection to their community.
Transport options for clients include subsidised taxis, transport using vehicles owned by partner organisations, transport by volunteers of Neighbourhood Centres using their vehicles, and subsidised bus trips for social group events, subject to availability.

Who can access these services?
The Community Support Program services are available for people who are:
-
people who over the age of 65 (or over 50 for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander) and living at home and not in receipt of a Home Care Package
-
assessed as eligible for domestic assistance and transport by My Aged Care
-
a small client contribution will be requested
To use this service you must have a valid referral code or direct referral from My Aged Care.
How do the services work?
Once a My Aged Care referral is received for domestic assistance, we will arrange to do a home assessment to identify your individual needs and goals.
When using this service you can expect privacy, respect and confidentiality. You will need to make sure you are home on the days of your workers’ visits, give at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel, advise of any changes as soon as possible, and ask questions if you have any concerns.
Please contact us if you would like to discuss support for yourself or someone else.
