COMMUNITY & NEIGHBOURHOOD SERVICES

Our Community & Neighbourhood Services aim to bring people together to build stronger communities where all people feel included and supported. Our three Neighbourhood Centres are safe and welcoming community hubs, open to everyone to use as a place to come and be heard, be supported, be connected and belong.

COVID-19 UPDATE:  Due to government restrictions, our face-to-face community groups, activities, room hire and events have been suspended, and our Neighbourhood Centres have reduced opening hours. We are still here for you and taking your calls between 9am and 4pm weekdays. We have some new services including social phone call service and a virtual community room for groups, so please get in touch to find out how we can support you during this time.

  •  TALK-TIME

    SOCIAL PHONE SERVICE

Talk-Time is our new social connection phone call service. Anyone in the community can register for free. We will then give you a call as a one-off or on a regular basis. This service provides friendly conversation, a listening ear and some positive human connection. Please contact us to find out more for yourself, or for someone you know.

  •  VIRTUAL COMMUNITY GROUP ROOMS

We now have a Virtual Community Room on Zoom and via Teleconference that can be used by community groups at no cost, so we can continue to support you and help keep everyone more connected.  Please contact us if you would like to join a local social or support group, or if you would like to consider holding your group in our Virtual Community Room.

  •  EMERGENCY FOOD RELIEF HAMPERS

During the COVID-19 restrictions, we will continue to provide our emergency food hampers through our Neighbourhood Centres for anyone in need of a little support with pantry staples. Our food supplies are regular but limited, so please contact us so we can make sure we have a Hamper ready for you to pick-up or be delivered, depending on your needs.

SOCIAL, HEALTH & WELLBEING & SPECIAL INTEREST

  GROUPS, ACTIVITIES, WORKSHOPS & EVENTS

We normally run a wide range of groups, workshops, activities and events for people of all ages and interests including social groups and events, community cafe and lunches, health & wellbeing groups and classes, art, craft and music groups, children's activities, special interest groups, festivals and more. Due to COVID-19 we have had to suspend our face-to-face activities but we are running some social and support groups in our Virtual Community Rooms via Zoom and Teleconference. Please contact us for more info and follow us on Facebook.

 INFORMATION & REFERRALS

Finding the right help and support can be a difficult and sometimes overwhelming process.  If we don't have the support you need, we can provide you with information about other services and connect you with people who can help.  Click on 'Community Contacts' below to see a list of some other community services that might be helpful. And please don't hesitate to give us a call or drop in for a chat about what you need.

  GRAFFITI REMOVAL SERVICE

Belong Blue Mountains supports a Graffiti Removal Service run by an amazing team of volunteers who work to remove tags and other unlawful graffiti as quickly as possible to discourage repeat offenders and keep our mountains beautiful.

A Blue-Mountains-wide alliance has been formed under volunteer coordinator Greg Birtles of the Hazelbrook Association with the Lower Mountains Volunteer Coordinator John Oakey.  This service has the support of our local Police Force and the Blue Mountains City Council, and is funded by the NSW Department of Communities & Justice.
