We are currently recruiting for the following positions: 
 

BE-READY Project Lead
28 hours per week, SCHADS Award Level 5, 2 Year Fixed Contract.

The B-Ready project has been created in response to community need in the Blue Mountains and will work across the whole of the LGA. Recognising the need for targeted support for our most vulnerable residents to be better prepared in the case of an emergency. B-Ready will work with individuals to reduce their risk factors by making an Emergency Preparedness plan that works on their terms and to meet their needs. Priority target groups are people living with disability and our most isolated and frail.

The Be-Ready Project Lead is responsible for co-ordinating the Be-Ready Community Resilience project. Supervising a team to deliver capacity building support to vulnerable community members. They will be an experienced Community Development worker who can confidently implement the project plan outlined in the grant agreement to meet the output targets. Ensuring that team training in the PCEP tool is undertaken to facilitate this tool being used in creating individual emergency preparedness plans for people living with disability and our most isolated and frail. The project lead will also coordinate the delivery of BBM Get ready events to engage the whole of community. Tracking the project evolution and learnings via robust evaluation methodology is a priority to contribute to an evidence base for ongoing funding.

Essential Criteria

Qualifications

  1. Minimum requirement of a tertiary qualification in welfare, social sciences, community development or other relevant areas.

  2. Current Drivers licence.

Skill Requirements

  1. High level of attention to detail and capacity to complete quality work outcomes and accountability, including prior experience using case management databases and meeting KPI’s in-line with funding agreements.

  2.  Demonstrated leadership experience in which you provided leadership and guidance to workers in the family or social work areas.

  3. Demonstrated background in coordinating the implementation of grass roots community projects.

  4. Good organisation, prioritising and time management skills, particularly ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

  5. Must have full driver’s licence and a comprehensively insured vehicle

  6. Demonstrated competency in computer use (Microsoft Office, email and ability to learn new programs).

  7. Demonstrated ability to show respect and empathy for, and work to support the diverse needs and aspirations of all participants, their carers, and volunteers.

  8. Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders. (Inclusive of: analysing data, write reports, develop case studies and communicate recommendations for future work)

  9. Ability to prioritise work tasks and apply initiative, and work effectively with minimum supervision.

  10. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  11. Ability to work with volunteers.

These may include coordinating data collection and entry, delivery and collation of evaluations, managing team event calendar and social media. A refined work plan will be determined as the project evolves. They will also contribute by delivering one on one support to NDIS clients to build their individual disaster preparedness plan. Working with clients to review their capabilities and how these may be impacted in the case of an emergency. Guiding conversation to explore supports that strengthen their emergency preparedness. Assisting clients/ participants to document their plans and review as appropriate. Contribute to the staffing and delivery of community engagement activities to increase reach of project and community understanding of the importance of being prepared for an emergency.

Lead, Families, Children, Youth and Community
26 hours per week, SCHADS Award Level 5.

This position is part of the Belong Blue Mountains Families, Children, Youth and Communities’ Team. Specifically contributing to the delivery of the DCJ Targeted Early Intervention program. The Lead, Families, Kids and Community will have a dual role of supervising and developing a well-coordinated community development team, and delivering early intervention, child, family and youth focussed events and services. The programming and delivery of supported playgroups across the Blue Mountains LGA is a large proportion of this role.

  3. Good organisation, prioritising and time management skills, particularly ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

  4. Must have full driver’s licence and a comprehensively insured vehicle (NB you will be using your own vehicle for travel and receiving award reimbursement per kilometre where appropriate)

  5. Demonstrated competency in computer use (Microsoft Office, email and ability to learn new programs).
